Temporal and spatial trends in biogeochemical conditions at a groundwater- surface water interface: implications for natural bioattenuation
Article Abstract:
The concentration level of chloroethane and methane in surface water interfaces may be decreased by inducing oxidation processes. This was concluded after a minimum level of chloroethane and methane was noted along the shallow points of lakes, where the degree of water oxidation was relatively high. The presence of methane-oxidizing-bacteria has also been found to expedite the co-oxidation of chloroethane, as supported by the negative correlation between chloroethane and methane.
