A spatial theory of rhythmic resolution
Article Abstract:
Issues related to a spatial approach in understanding African and Indonesian musical rhythms are examined, focusing on ways to map rhythmic patterns on geometrical surfaces, such as polygons, which can be loosely compared to the face of a clock. Topics include the use of Gestalt psychology, mathematical group theory and psycho-acoustics to approach rhythm.
