Rasbach Design Group has developed a computer-designed component house construction process. The walls and panels are composed of polystyrene inserted between two layers of a recycled, fiber-reinforced board. The components can be utilized for homes ranging from 900 to 3,000 square feet.

Oak Ridge National Laboratory researchers have developed a new insulating system for building foundations. The foundation system provides strength similar to that of conventional concrete but adds insulation in the form of low-density additives, such as fly ash.
