The OCEA awards of merit
Article Abstract:
The Outstanding Civil Engineering Awards of Merit were given to three innovative projects for 1992. The US Army Corps of Engineers won for its installation of bendway weirs along the Mississippi river which made it easier to navigate and preserve the river's aquatic life. Other winners were the Duke Power Co. of North Carolina's Bad Creek Pumped Storage Project which supplies more power at minimal cost and is environment-friendly, and the American Airlines' new maintenance and engineering facility which features the world's largest cantilevered hangar built to service and accommodate large aircrafts.
