Article Abstract:
The author recounts his experiences as a volunteer working for a Grizzly bear project in Glacier National Park, and how he plans to apply the information from these experiences to a Bengal tiger project in India. Research techniques include a method for obtaining DNA samples from tiger hair, which may be usable as evidence in court to prosecute poachers.

Mountain watersheds and lakes are studied, which are affected by acid rains and a multidisciplinary approach is used to identify the effects of acid deposition. The research is leading to more interdisciplinary aspects of watershed management.
