Time for political action on Torngat Mountains Park
Article Abstract:
The government of Newfoundland, the Labrador Inuit Assn. and Parks Canada met publicly about the proposed boundary for a Torngat Mountains national park. The latest boundary proposal, released in Aug. 1995, includes the entire Cape Chidley region and maintains the size of the park despite efforts to reduce it.

Prime Minister protects two candidate national parks
Article Abstract:
Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien declared the watershed around Wager Bay and the Bathurst Islands as natural parks on Oct 14, 1996. The areas will receive protection under Canadian environmental laws. The new national parks are located in the Canadian Arctic and represent tundra ecosystems.
