Sandvik Coromant UK has been posting growth in stainless steel tools since the beginning of the 1980s. Among stainless steel applications that have been seeing growth worldwide are the food, chemical, process and oil industries. In the UK, the aerospace industry is expanding application. Such rising use of stainless steel has increased the market potential of dedicated stainless steel inserts, prompting Sandvik to develop its M-line set opf inserts for stainless steel. Tests showed that the new tools increased by at least 25% the number of components which could be machined per edge.

A fairer chance
Article Abstract:
The number of women in the engineering profession in UK has been observed to be increasing and is expected to increase further. Research by the Engineering Training Authority revealed that the percentage of women who graduated in engineering and technology has risen from five percent in 1979 to 14% in 1993. However, the percentage is still much lower compared to men and initiatives such as Women into Science and Engineering are striving to encourage women to pursue engineering and technology courses.
