World of difference
Article Abstract:
World class manufacturers agree that improvements in the manufacturing sector should be tailored to customer needs which are growing in complexity. World class manufacturers share certain common attributes such as keeping customer-supplier relationships that are based on the concept of self-sufficiency. Manufacturing leaders should also be able to adapt to new sets of responsibilities, implement new manufacturing performance measurements and achieve the correct balance between technology and effective simplicity in operations.

The customer is king
Article Abstract:
Manufacturing firms need to focus more on their customers to become world class. This has been attempted and achieved with the proper implementation of a tool called Customer Focused Strategy (CFS). The use of CFS entails the use of effective market research. CFS techniques include in-context customer visits and structured customer interviews. The strategy's effectiveness can be enhanced by analyzing customer defections which have been traditionally overlooked by manufacturing firms for several reasons.
