The vulnerable elders survey: a tool for identifying vulnerable older people in the community
Article Abstract:
Analysis of longitudinal survey data has shown that self-reported diagnoses and conditions, when added to a function-based targeting system, do not enhance predictive ability. The function-based targeting system depends on self-report and is easy to transport across care settings. It works significantly better than a model using just age and self-reported diagnoses.

Detection and management of falls and instability in vulnerable elders by community physicians
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to investigate quality of care of falls and instability provided to vulnerable elders. The results indicated that community physicians appeared to underdetect falls and gait disorders. The detected falls often receive inadequate evaluation, which lead to a paucity of recommendations and treatments.
