A cognitivist view of the units debate in cultural anthropology
Article Abstract:
This article uses a cognitivist perspective to examine the possibility of defining stable, discrete units of culture in ethnological research. Culture is primarily a collection of shared ideas which are constrained by the complexity and size limits of short-term memory when used as the foundational units of culture.
