Autopoiesis
Article Abstract:
The term 'autopoiesis', meaning self-production or self-creation, was formed by Chilean biologists Humberto Maturana and Francisco Varela in the 1970s by the combination of two ancient Greek words 'auto' and 'poiesis'. The theory of autopoiesis is a theory of biological life and cognition and has resulted in rising debates in research fields as diverse as artificial intelligence and sociology.
