Gender and race in the sexuality education classroom: learning from the experiences of students and teachers
Article Abstract:
The dynamics of gender and race affect the outcome of sexuality education programs in terms such as the traditional gender roles of boys and girls. A qualitative and quantitative study of 20 students shows the outcomes of a high school human sexuality program. The data reveal that adolescent pregnancy can be curbed by teaching the psychological behavior components of gender relations rather than just emphasizing the traditional roles of the sexes.

1998-99 sexuality education controversies in the United States
Article Abstract:
140 sexuality education controversies in 33 states in the United States were documented during the 1998-99 school year, with most stemming from complaints about curricula, presentations, and materials exposing children to inappropriate information. Abstinence-only-until-marriage programs were uncontested. Some controversies involve issues similar to those seen previously, such as too much information.
