A study was conducted to analyze the influence of gender on changes in recovery status of substance users in a longitudinal study. Annual interviews were conducted from years 2 to 6 following intake. Results show that around 80% of the participants changed status at least once during the follow-up period. Findings also show that women are one-third less likely to experience a transition from recovery to using.
