Research investigating the role of industrial policies in the process of invention is presented. Particular attention is given to ways in which industrial policies support and select the process of invention with application to the French life sciences industry.

Business services as actors of knowledge transformation: the role of KIBS in regional and national innovation systems
Article Abstract:
Issues concerning the production and diffusion of knowledge by knowledge-intensive business services (KIBS) are discussed. It is suggested that interacting small and medium-sized enterprises and KIBS are more focused on innovation than non-interacting companies.
