Technology forecasting activities in Japan
Article Abstract:
The science and technology administration activities of the Japanese government are dispersed among numerous government ministries and agencies. The success of Japan's technology development is attributed to comprehensive technological forecasting studies which were conducted in the 1960s. The Science and Technology Agency initiated technological forecasting studies in 1970 and continues to make forecast surveys once every five years. The studies are used to coordinate the activities of the industrial, academic governmental sectors involved in scientific development.
