The World Social Forum: An open space or a movement of movements?
Article Abstract:
The World Social Forum (WSF) is the most interesting attempt to create a global space for critical social movements organized annually since 2001, in Porto Alegre, Brazil, and in January 2004 in Mumbai, India. Certain changes show that there exists a learning process in the WSF and that it is in movement, even if it is not a movement of a traditional kind.

Article Abstract:
A model of cosmopolitan democracy that is based on a selected set of past experiences and reflections on the book Democracy and the Global Order is discussed. Global democratization is very closely linked to the project of creating the basis for a global security community that is a very ambitious project.

The Tobin tax: a new phase in the politics of globalization?
Article Abstract:
The tax proposed by James Tobin in the 1970s for currency transactions would permit greater autonomy in economic policy. By taxing global financial markets, globalization will need to include issues of social responsibility, justice, authority and democracy.
