The measurement properties of the role conflict and role ambiguity scales: a review and extension of the empirical research
Article Abstract:
A reanalysis of the Rizzo, House and Lirtzman role conflict and role ambiguity scales proved the validity of the measures across three samples of workers. By using confirmatory factor analysis and item statistics plus the addition of useful data, the continuous use of the scales was justified. The criticism that the scales do not measure different constructs and that method variance exists was not proven. However, it is advisable to ignore items with marginal psychometric qualities.

Person- and context-oriented perceptual age measures: additional evidence of distinctiveness and usefulness
Article Abstract:
Four perceptual age measures could be grouped into person-oriented and context-oriented factors using confirmatory factor analysis. The confirmatory factor analyses also showed that the factor structure was invariant over time. Perceptual age measures also accounted for variance in self-ratings and managers' ratings of employee, health self-ratings of retirement intentions, and managers' ratings of promotability not accounted for by chronological age.

The measurement of job control
Article Abstract:
The dimensionality of Karasek and Ganster's measures was assessed in multiple, independent samples using a confirmatory factor analyses (LISREL) with maximum likelihood estimation. The hypothesized two-factor solutions, decision authority and skill discretion, for the job decision latitude scale and the general control and predictability, for the work control scale, were confirmed for both measures, although item refinement is indicated.
