The power of local advocacy: funding for senior services in Ohio
Article Abstract:
The importance and power of local advocacy and direct contact with voters is discussed. The story of Lois Dale Brown is narrated who needed local funding to build a senior center in her community in rural south western Ohio but her initial efforts were rebuffed as there was no specific law that permitted local property tax funds to be used for senior services so she set out to change the Ohio law in which later she succeeded.
