Article Abstract:
This paper tests the proposition that identification and engagement in the work role differ in regard to a general commitment to work. It finds that work centrality (or identification) is more strongly correlated with work ethic and leisure ethic, while work alienation (engagement) has stronger correlations with work control, self-discipline and commitment to the organization.
