A man talks about sailing to Fort Jefferson located in the Dry Tortugas near Key West, FL. The construction of the Fort begun in the 1846 to protect US shipping interests. It was later used as a prison and has now been named as a National Monument.

Southbound on 'Highway 65.' (Caribbean 1500 Rally sailing event)
Article Abstract:
Thirty-eight cruising boats joined the two fleets that participated in the 1992 Caribbean 1500 Rally from Newport, RI, to St Thomas. It was the first offshore cruise for many of the participants, but all proved resourceful at handling problems.

A cruise from West Palm Beach, FL, to Puerto Rico aboard a 34-foot boat is described. Wind-against-current conditions and squalls with 50 knots winds almost caused one crew member to jump ship at San Salvador.
