A novice sailor recounts sailing along Boston, PA's North Shore aboard a 32-foot, center-cockpit fiberglass ketch owned by the professor serving as his mentor in the art of sailing. The sailor momentarily took over from the professor after the latter failed to secure the mainsail during a windy day.

Marconi, anyone?

The triangular mainsail in a fore-and-aft rig is known as a marconi. The link between the name marconi and the wireless inventor is not certain. It is possible that the rigging on the boats was the same as the rigging on the marconi masts.

How to get along in mixed company
Article Abstract:
Boat living, especially with a mixed company, can be made less difficult if certain guidelines are observed. Respecting the privacy of others, and speaking softly are two of the physical and psychological guidelines that are discussed.
