Acute responses to resistance training and safety
Article Abstract:
Resistance training has become part of exercise rehabilitation process for people with coronary artery disease. Factors that influence acute circulatory response to this kind of isometric exercise include number of repetitions, absolute load, muscle mass involved in lifting, joint angle, and Valsalva maneuver. This exercise technique is safe for most healthy people and many with cardiovascular diseases.

Concurrent validation of the OMNI perceived exertion scale for resistance exercise
Article Abstract:
The concurrent validity of the recently developed OMNI-Resistance Exercise Scale (OMNI-RES) is explored, to measure the ratings of perceived exertion (RPE) in young adult female and male subjects performing separate upper- and lower-body exercise.

Isometric training lowers resting blood pressure and modulates autonomic control
Article Abstract:
The effects of isometric handgrip training on resting blood pressure, in older adults with hypertension and the heart variability are examined. The study shows an attenuation of resting blood pressure in these older individuals.
