Gloves are not always appropriate for all protection requirements, although the correct type of glove should be selected where they are used. An analysis of hip joint load during walking, running, and skiing

Article Abstract:

Controlled alpine and cross-country skiing are relatively safe activities for people with total hip replacement, although skiing places greater stress on the hip than walking. Intersegmental force was highest during running, while hip joint contact forces were highest during alpine skiing. This loading conditions data has applications for hip prosthesis design.
