An ancillary equipment survey was made for autopilots, vanes, tenders and Jimmy Cornell made outboard engines, ground tackle, anchoring techniques and other additional equipment. He interviewed and queried 60 international sailors and sailing waters and put down their thoughts in the book 'The Boats Gear and Practices that work best at sea'.

Aventura III was set up for shorthanded sailing and it was not difficult to sail the boat alone. Bahia de Panama had steady northerly winds, so the spinnaker came down, but Aventura III went just as fast with the poled-out yankee.
