Exercise responses and adaptations in rowers and spinal cord injury individuals
Article Abstract:
A study contrasts the physiological adaptations to exercise of international-caliber rowers with those of the non-physically active, paraplegic spinal cord injury (SCI) individuals to highlight the plasticity of human exercise ability. Results indicate that the fiber type composition of muscle in humans is stable unless extreme alterations in physical activity are endured.
