Several stretching exercises useful for relieving stress before sleep are described. Each relieves stress in the muscles of the spine and back to encourages fuller breathing. The last exercise allows blood to flow from the legs and arms into the torso and organs, which calms the nervous system.

Cramping of the uterus occurs when the hormone prostaglandin restricts blood vessels in the uterus. Relaxing the pelvic muscles allows blood to flow to the uterus more freely. Two stretches effective in relaxing pelvic muscles and reducing menstrual cramps are described.
