Cyclic AMP in prokaryotes
Article Abstract:
Th role of adenylate cyclase (cAMP) in the regulation of gene expression is described. cAMP, which is found in prokaryotic bacteria, influences gene expression through its reaction with a cAMP-binding protein (CRP). In enteric coliforms, the mechanisms, which involve the control of adenylate cyclase activity, regulation of the synthesis of adenylate cyclase and the CRP-cAMP complex-regulated gene expression, were elucidated.
