Christmas in Phuket

Celebrations took on a definite tropical flavor at the island of Phuket, in southwestern Thailand where over 100 cruising vessels rendezvoused over the Christmas holiday. Several boats with children aboard put up lights and decorations and exchanged presents, and everyone enjoyed a Christmas Day beach party in Nai Harn Bay.

The Old Gaffers Festival is celebrated every year at Yarmouth, in England. Yarmouth is one of the most popular cruising and racing ports in the South of England, as it has a picturesque harbor, restaurants, and yacht clubs and pubs. It is also one of the most active lifeboat stations of the United Kingdom.

Laptop on board can be used for forecasting weather, planning routes, doing research, and managing the ship's business. It is used to get redundant weather and navigation capability but is not used as a sole source for anything important, as software is no substitute for seamanship.
