Since the birth of the terrain park at Sonnenburg Ski Hill in Barnard, VT in 1982, terrain parks have been transformed from snowboarder-only areas tucked in out-of-the-way places to playgrounds for all located at the front and center. Terrain parks allow resorts with natural terrain deficiencies to compete with the best resorts.

At South Lake Tahoe, the ski culture mixes with gambling and strip clubs. Although the skiing is great, the gambling atmosphere can detract from the apres ski thing, and the dancers are kind of sad.
