Comparison of Kenz Lifecorder EX and Actigraph Accelerometers in 10-yr-old children
Article Abstract:
The Kenz Lifecorder (LC) EX and Actigraph (AG) accelerometers are compared under free-living conditions with respect to the children's steps and time taken in light and moderate to high-intensity and vigorous physical activity (PA). The analysis shows that the LC detects fewer steps than that detected by the AG accelerometer but they both give almost the same estimates of time for moderate to vigorous PA (MVPA) in children.

Children's pedometer-determined physical activity during the segmented school day
Article Abstract:
A study seeks to describe the sex-specific patterns of school children's daily pedometer-determined physical activity (PA) during physical education (PE), recess and lunchtime, and before and after school. The findings add to the cumulative evidence that boys are more active than similarly aged girls and that after-school PA represents approximately half of children's daily total PA, regardless of the child's sex.

Motion sensor accuracy under controlled and free-living conditions
Article Abstract:
The concurrent accuracy of the Yamax SW-200, Omron HJ-105, and Sportline 330 pedometers as well as a CSA accelerometer were examined by conducting two studies. It is found that the motion sensors detect steps differently; hence comparative studies using different brands of pedometers have to be done very cautiously.
