Exercise dose-response effects on quality of life and independent living in older adults
Article Abstract:
This article investigates the relationship between physical activity, independence, and quality of life among the elderly. Findings indicate that physically active older adults report increased levels of physical function and well-being and that long-term regular activity is associated with independent living and disability postponement among the oldest old.

Comparison of muscle torque, balance, and confidence in older Tai chi and healthy adults
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to examine whether older Tai chi practitioners had better knee muscle strength, less body sway in perturbed single-leg stance and greater balance confidence than healthy older adults. The results demonstrated that long-term Tai Chi practitioners had better knee muscle strength, less body sway in perturbed single-leg stance, and greater balance confidence.

Influence of marital status on physical activity levels among older adults
Article Abstract:
Analyses were conducted to describe levels and types of activity in relationship to current marital status among older adults and determine if the physical activity level of the husband was related to the physical activity level of his wife. Results found husband's physical activity participation status was related to the physical activity participation of his wife and that spousal-pair based interventions, including both members of married couple would improve both physical activity participation and compliance among older adults.
