Construct validation of Hebrew versions of three physical self-concept measures: An extended multitrait-multimethod analysis
Article Abstract:
Three strongest physical self-concept measures for a new sample of Israeli university students is investigated to evaluate the generalizability of results based on responses by Australian high school students and to extend the generality of this support by incorporating additional criteria into the multitrait-multimethod (MTMM) design. The results have confirmed the priori 23-factor structure of 3 instruments and convergent and discriminant validity of factors from each instrument in relation to those from the other instruments.

Physical fitness self-concept: relations of physical fitness to field and technical indicators for boys and girls aged 9-15
Article Abstract:
A study of 6,283 boys and girls aged 9 to 15 in Australian schools in September 1985 revealed that self-concepts of physical fitness and academic achievement were linked to field and laboratory indications of physical fitness and academic achievement. Correlation between self-concepts and corresponding external criteria increased with age in physical and academic areas. Correlations that were stronger after controlling for gender and age validated predictions of frame-of-reference models.

Assessing multidimensional physical activity motivation: A construct validity study of high school students
Article Abstract:
A new, multidimensional approach to physical activity motivation that is operationalized through four primary factors namely, adaptive cognitive dimensions, adaptive behavioral dimensions, impeding cognitive dimensions and maladaptive behavioral dimensions is presented. The findings are revealed in terms of future directions for possible physical activity interventions goaled at increasing both the uptake and continuation of activity.
