Creating the ultimate mini-superyacht

An American couple commissioned a custom-made 59-foot yacht for sailing all over the world. The yacht includes an AeroRig, which balances the forces of the mainsail and jib with a swiveling boom. It took 2 years to build and has over 100 pages of specifications. It was built to be sailed by 2 people, and can accommodate 2 occasional guests.

Designer Coutts and his new toy

Russell Coutts, a three-time America's Cup winner, has designed a new RC44 an all-carbon-fiber daysailer/racer that is narrow, lightweight, with horsepower to burn. It is less than 40 feet long and has a slender 8-foot, 5-inch beam and its deep fin keel features a weed cutter, a trim tab, and a relatively modest 3,747-pound lead bulb.
