Deer in the pines
Article Abstract:
Mature stands of firs, spruces, and pines serve the needs of deer year-round and they benefit from the trees' double duty as a food source and winter refuge. The passing of a weather front with high winds would often drive nervous whitetails into the protection of the evergreens, and the evergreens thus becoming the favorable climate to scout for the deer during the off-season.

Trouble in the water
Article Abstract:
Hunters in the southern parts of the United States are advised to take precautions against the highly venomous cottonmouth snake, which abound in the woods of that region. They should consider investing in thick-walled snake boots, chaps, or gaiters, and wearing pants on the outside of their boots that would help interfere with the penetration of the fangs.
