The head tennis coach at the University of California at Irvine presents a drill called 'Double Vision' to quicken the hands at the net, develop footwork, teamwork and peripheral vision, at tennis doubles. One can maintain a reasonable pace on the shots so that no one is thrusting, and try to reach quickly so that volleys are hit at waist to chest height rather than allowing the ball to bounce.
