The US government, with their national energy plan, has destroyed hunting and fishing on millions of federal acres of lands badly affecting the wildlife management. The beneficiaries of this policy are the energy companies while hunters, anglers, economic welfare communities, cold and warmwater fisheries are the sufferers.

Cagey, reclusive bucks that only show themselves at dawn and dusk would suddenly be moving all day fighting each other for dominance and searching for does. The exact timing of the rut varies but in most of the country three distinct phases of the breeding season take place during the dates given.
