The Muppet known as 'Animal' and skier Anton Pogue promoted the US Snowboard Team at a press conference in Jun 1997. The members of the team include Rob Berney, Mike Jacoby, Ross Powers, Todd Richards, Jimi Scott, Sondra Van Ert and Lisa Kosglow. They hope to win medals at the 1998 Winter Olympics.

Attending the Stealth Olympics

Of the 1.28 mil tickets for the Nagano, Japan Winter Olympics, only about 200,000 are being sold abroad. This reflects the low-keyed planning of the Nagano Olympic Organizing committee. The games will be held Feb 7-22, 1998 in the Japan Alps. Travel and ticket information are provided.

Speed and grace: the nordic events demand multiple skills

The nordic events of ski jumping and cross-country skiing require proper technique and tactical skills, as well as speed and conditioning. The US might win a medal in the nordic combined at the 1998 Winter Olympics. Ski jumpers Tim Tetreault and Todd Lodwick are potential medalists.
