Effects of different sports on bone density and muscle mass in highly trained athletes
Article Abstract:
The authors investigate the effects of various high-intensity sports on bone mineral density (BMD) and appendicular muscle mass (APP) of highly trained athletes. Subjects were males from age 18-25, sports performed included judo, karate, and water polo, a control group of 12 age-matched non-athletes was assigned; results showed that athletes, especially in high-impact sports, had higher total BMD and APP than the controls.

Impact of exercise on bone health and contraindication of oral contraceptive use in young women
Article Abstract:
This article examines the relationship between exercise, the use of oral contraceptives, and bone mineral density in young women. Findings indicate that bone density increased in exercising women and decreased in sedentary women while exercise among contraceptive users prevented the bone density increases found in sedentary contraceptive users.

Skin temperature and skin blood flow affect bioelectric impedance study of female fat-free mass
Article Abstract:
Results reveal that body composition in healthy females can be measured in terms of ambient temperature changes in skin temperature and skin blood flow which influence bioelectrical impedance parameters namely resistance and reactance. The study uses the Lusaki and Guo equations in the analyses.
