Effects of medium-chain triacylglycerol ingested with carbohydrate on metabolism and exercise performance
Article Abstract:
Research on carbohydrate (CHO) and medium-chain triacylglycerol (MCT) ingestion and exercise showed distinct physiological effects. In tests using endurance-trained cyclists, MCT increased serum free fatty acid but did not impact gastrointestinal symptoms. CHO raised starting levels of plasma insulin, which may encourage CHO oxidation regardless of MCT ingestion and serum free fatty acid circulation.

The effect of a carbohydrate-arginine supplement on postexercise carbohydrate metabolism
Article Abstract:
Adding arginine to a CHO supplement lessens the rate of CHO oxidation after exercise and thus may make more glucose available for muscle glycogen storage during recovery from exercise. Testing cyclists riding long enough to deplete their muscle glycogen stores and taking carbohydrate or carbohydrate-arginine supplements at specified times after exercise established these results.

Effects of exercise on dietary protein requirements
Article Abstract:
Research shows no correlation between protein intakes at certain ranges and negative effects in healthy individuals. While popular opinion dictates lower protein intake to maintain health, individuals undergoing rigorous training or physical exercise may need to consume nearly twice the recommended daily allowance of protein than those who are not.
