Energy to burn on your next dive: 24 tips
Article Abstract:
Energy conservation is very important for scuba divers to get more out of their dive vacations. Four of the biggest culprits of energy loss are heat loss, swimming in scuba gear, travelling and breathing itself. To conserve energy, body heat should be retained by wearing a hood and putting neoprene in the torso. In between dives, divers should dress warmly, especially if air temperature drops to 94 degrees F. Other tips include streamlining diving equipment, practicing slow and deep breathing, moving slowly under water and avoiding stress by packing gear early.

Dive boats: your guide to the good, the bad and the ugly
Article Abstract:
The criteria for selecting a dive boat should not only focus on the boat's schedule and price but should also include its safety features and amenities. Safety equipment such as life jackets, fire extinguishers and a radio should be standard in dive boats. In addition, divers should verify if the boat is certified by the Coast Guard. Other necessary features of safe dive boats are first aid equipment for decompression sickness, ample drinking water and ascent/descent lines.
