Exploring the dangerous Archipelago
Article Abstract:
Tere Batham and Michael Batham, both sailors describe the way they got stuck in the lagoon in French Polynesia's vast Tuamotu Archipelago, littered with isolated coral heads that rose as lethal pinnacles from 100 feet of water while sailing in their 47-foot steel ketch, Sea Quest. The Archipelago encompasses 78 atolls that enclose a total of some 2,300 square miles of sheltered lagoons.
