At least 300 boat-strong fleet join the Chicago Yacht Club's 333-mile race to Mackinac. Larry Ellison's Sayonara and Steve Fossett's Stars & Stripes are the crowd favorites. However, Fossit's victory raises questions as to whether his victory is a title or just a course record.

SORC: an event on the rise
Article Abstract:
Jim Brady skippered the winning boat in the Mumm 36 class at the 1996 SORC, with an all-woman crew led by J.J. Isler placing 5th. Dawn Riley placed second in the 12-boat PHRF class. Multihulls raced in the SORC for the first time in 1996.

Acura SORC: big fleet, light breeze

A report is presented on the annual Acura Southern Ocean Racing Conference in Miami, Fl, which was held from February 29th to March 5th 2000. Over 75% of competitors raced in one-design classes.
