Approximately 2,000 Japanese become ill annually from worms in raw fish, but most of the illness originates from fish prepared at home, rather than from sushi bars. Similar statistics are not available in the US, but Americans are more likely to become ill from eating rare chicken or hamburger.

Japanese sumo wrestlers try to gain weight and are very successful at it. Therefore, in theory, to lose weight a person should practice the opposite dietary habits. These would include eating several small meals, not skipping breakfast and eating the largest meal early in the day.
