Fluid snacks to help persons with type 1 diabetes avoid late onset postexercise hypoglycemia
Article Abstract:
An effort has been made to find fluid snacks to help those with type 1 diabetes avoid late-onset hypoglycemia after exercise. Whole milk and sports drinks designed for quick nutrient replenishment or for long-lasting nutrient replenishment can be used by those with type 1 diabetes to avoid late-onset postexercise hypoglycemia (LOPEH). Drinks tested were water, skim milk, whole milk, two kinds of sports drinks, one with carbohydrate and electrolytes, and one with carbohydrate, fat, and protein.

Long-term follow-up after exertional heat illness during recruit training
Article Abstract:
Research presented examines if military personnel who experienced exertional heat illness (EHI) during their initial training were more susceptible to heat illness in the long-term. Findings suggest that hospitalization for this condition is uncommon after the initial attack, and it has only a small influence on military retention.

Exercise and newer insulins: How much glucose supplement to avoid hypoglycemia?
Article Abstract:
The glucose supplement required to prevent hypoglycemia during moderate-intensity exercise in Type 1 diabetic patients using newer analog insulins was determined. The estimated amount of glucose supplementation was derived from a regression equation based on the ability to maintain blood glucose (BG) levels in recommended ranges.
