The acute versus the chronic response to exercise
Article Abstract:
This article examines the acute and chronic effects of exercise on risk factors associated with atherosclerosis. Findings indicate that individual exercise sessions can have acute beneficial effects on cholesterol, blood pressure, glucose metabolism, and insulin sensitivity while long-term physical training increases exercise capacity and increases the intensity of individual sessions.

Functional polymorphisms associated with human muscle size and strength
Article Abstract:
The skeletal muscle is crucial to human performance and health but not much is known about the genetic elements affecting muscle size, strength and its response to exercise. The study of functional polymorphisms associated with human muscle size and strength may help in identifying the genetic factors and better understanding of muscle physiology.

Exercise-related sudden death due to an unusual coronary artery anomaly
Article Abstract:
The second most common cause of exercise-related sudden cardiac death, coronary artery anomaly, is examined closely. The difficulty in diagnosing the abnormalities, the acute angle take-off and ostial ridges are also discussed.
