Article Abstract:
Two days of the week during training should consist of exercises that help to develop speed for a 5-K run. One day should consist of intervals of fast running. The other day should include special exercises such as 'high knees' and 'bounding.' Several exercises and training schedules are outlined.

A boxing gym offers runners the opportunity to improve their stamina and upper-body strength in a non-competitive environment. Memberships are often inexpensive and these gyms not advocate high-glamour clothing and equipment.
