A pheasant hunter describes his sense of gratitude for being alive and able to hunt. He describes a hunting trip in which one member had to stop for a while because of a possible heart problem and another trip on what he considered to be a perfect day.

Cornfields form a wonderful pheasant habitat because the stalks provide both shelter and food. Pheasant hunting season extends through all stages of corn growing, and birds are always plentiful until the land is tilled under.

A father and son exchange letters regarding a slump during a slow pheasant season. The slump was demoralizing, as the hunter kept missing everything he was aiming at. He finally emerged from the difficult period.
