Hawg heaven
Article Abstract:
A group of Arkansas runners who travel to Colorado for the annual Pikes Peak Marathon call themselves Hawgs. The total round trip run from the 6,200-foot take-off point to the 14,100-foot summit and back calls for serious ongoing training and plenty of courage. A novice's run of half the race, plus historical information is presented.

Article Abstract:
The author has experienced the marathon from many different perspectives. He first ran the marathon in 1978 and began covering it as a journalist in 1981. He also watched the race on TV and from phone booths along the race.
