The experiences of living on a boat, 'Eleuthera Soleil' and the work and expenses involved in making a boat livable are narrated. One of the best things about living aboard is that it's like owning every magical place that ship is anchored in but without the burden of actual possession, though one yearns for a house and a garden at times.

The replacement of the Cruising Club of America rule with the International Offshore Rule (IOR) was a major change in sailboat race handicapping in 1970. Design changes under IOR led many racers to adopt Performance Handicap Racing Fleet racing and one-design class racing. IMS is another option.
