A cruising sailor and author of books on sailing describes his first solo crossing from England to the US aboard a 45-year-old gaff cutter. The Atlantic voyage was stormy, but the worst part was fighting Force 6 winds in the Pollock Rip Channel.

A sailing cruise from Wisconsin across Lake Michigan to the North Channel of Lake Huron is described. The trip included stops in Jackson Harbor on Washington Island, Garden Island, Les Cheneux Islands and Little Current on Manitoulin Island.
